Six matching antique Imari plates with the classic black ship design showing Dutch ships and sailors. The plates measure about 1 1/4" high x 9 3/4" in diameter, and date to the end of the Meiji period. They are all in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. One dish has a small kiln flaw on it's foot rim. A complete range of Imari colors has been used in the elaborate design work. A lidded Japanese ewer for serving saki or wine. The white porcelain pot is decorated with cobalt blue and then foliage and friezes were applied using red, green, and gold enamels. The cover has a flattened knob, and is decorated so as to match the body of the vessel. The kettle's body measures about 5 1/2"h x 6"d (with handle 7 1/2"h)(with spout 7 3/4"w), and dates to the second half of the Edo Period. A large heavy okimono of a striding elephant. The bronze elephant has a finely chased hide and it's original ivory tusks. The elephant measures about 19" long x 19" high, and weighs about 23.8 pounds. There is a maker's mark cut out on the belly of the beast which reads "Watanambe Made", and the patina overall is even and perfect. The elephant was made during the Meiji period, ie: late 19th Century, and the condition is perfect. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

A Japanese bronze study of a prowling, growling, tiger with an open mouth, glass eyes and etched strips. There is a cast rectangular reserve on the tigers belly which says Seiya Sake(Sei ya made), which would indicate that the statue was made in the Genryusai Seiya Workshop. A Bronze elephant under attack by two tigers, one tiger is on his back, and one is under his front foot. The elephant has a finely chased hide and original ivory tusks, and the tigers have etched bronze strips. There is a makers mark inscribed on the bottom of the elephant's right front foot which says "Jonon"(south castle). The okimono measures about 7" wide x 7 1/2" tall, and dates to the Meiji Period. A Japanese porcelain tureen that is decorated with the various Imari colors and motifs. The brocade exterior design also features large flying cranes, scenes of ladies dancing, and the Chinese mark for longevity on the top to the lid.. The chargers' decoration has been done in a manner that should appeal to Chinese style and taste. A medium sized Imari bowl from the 19th Century. The bowl is of fine quality and has a rare, hand applied, overall brocade decoration. In the inside there is a garden scene and a golden hawk that are made to look like they are from a rolled out scroll. A pair of antique Japanese candlesticks dating to the Meiji period 1868-1911. The stands are made of copper and measure about 17 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" in diameter, across the weighted bottoms. The stands have been engraved with an assortment of family mons, both on the bases, and up the sticks. The condition is very good. A large hanging Japanese scroll of Daruma the founder of Zen Buddhism that dates to Circa 1900. Duruma has been painted in red and black, on fine silk, and mounted as a scroll using gold threaded brocade borders. The scroll ends are made of a tropical hardwood. A Japanese kiseru made of brass with silver colored rings, bowl and mouth piece. It is further decorated with a boy and comical looking tiger in overlay silver and engravings of pine trees. The pipe measures 9 1/2" long which includes the bamboo extension. The pipe is from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Pipe is in good condition with some small scratches and dents from use.
