A ten piece collection of Korean Silla Dynasty stoneware pottery, made during the 5th through 7th Centuries. Such pottery was found in all the Royal tombs of this period to include the Gold Crown Tomb and the Gold Bell Tomb. An antique Japanese Imari porcelain figure of Okame, who is the female actress that is shown on traditional Japanese theater masks. She is sitting, clothed in a kimono covered with cherry blossoms and gold accents, and is holding a fan. Okame represents a wish for good fortune, happiness, and long life. She is also the goddess of mirth, and can make one happy just to look at her. This lady measures about 6 3/4" high x 5" wide, and she dates to the Meiji period, 1868-1912...

A Japanese porcelain blue and white decorated flower pot, setting on three legs, and with a drainage hole. The pot is from Arita or Imari and was made during the Meiji Period. The pot measures about 9 3/4" high x 12 1/4" in diameter, and is in excellent condition. There are water and dirt stains that can be removed. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. A rare large Chinese carved wooden figure of a Goldfish. The fish is covered with gold lacquer over a brown lacquer base. It has bulging black and white glass eyes, fins, scales, and a large fan shaped tail. The underside shows the brown lacquer base coat. The fish measures about 15" long x 6" wide at the broadest point of the tail, and it dates to the early 20th Century...

A Martavan Jar made in Thailand or Burma with a cream glaze on the upper body over a reddish stoneware body, The lower half of the jar is not glazed, and there are two lugs on the jars' shoulder. The jar measures about 12 1/2" tall x 11" in diameter, and it is heavy, about 12 lbs. The Jar dates to the 16th/17th Century and was purchased in Indonesia. A brass wash pan that was used for personal grooming during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been formed by the process known as wrought, where the metal is worked into shape by beating it with a hammer. The hammering marks on this pan are clearly visible. The pan measures 4 3/4" high x 16 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. It is good example of folk ware and metal art. An antique Japanese Satsuma Jar that measures about 18" tall x 13" in diameter. The jar has the "thousand faces" design, skillfully executed in gold and raised moriage enamels. On one side is Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess, and on the other I believe it is the Immortal, Lu Tung-pin, who has the power to slay dragons and evil. Additionally there are eighteen Rakan, all of which have the same face. Also there is a dragon flying beneath the Kannon...

A small Chinese porcelain bowl with the popular "nine peaches" decoration. The peach is the symbol for long life, timelessness, immortality and springtime. Also illustrated on the bowl is a fungus, plum blossoms, and bats, all of which are symbols wishing you a long life. The bat flying around is also a wish for happiness. These offering stands were used in Korea on a family altar to elevate offering to worship ones ancestors. These stands were owned by poor people and farmers, and they are good examples of Korean folk art. The largest stand is about 6" in diameter, followed by one at 5 1/2" and the other at 4 3/4". All of them show spur marks and grit where they were stacked for firing in a large kiln. They are all in good condition with no damage. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

A Japanese kiseru made of brass with silver colored rings, bowl and mouth piece. It is further decorated with a boy and comical looking tiger in overlay silver and engravings of pine trees. The pipe measures 9 1/2" long which includes the bamboo extension. The pipe is from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Pipe is in good condition with some small scratches and dents from use. A Chinese porcelain brush washer with a flambe ox blood glaze and the splashed colors of red, white and blue. The pot was for the use of a scholar to clean his brush when doing calligraphy. The washer is six sided and measures about 2" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter. This is another example of the ox blood glaze, during the 19th Century, running in the kiln, which made in necessary to break the piece from the kiln.
