A finely crafted Japanese monkey head that sets down on the monkey's body in such a way that it moves in a nodding manner. The figure is Banko ware pottery, and there is a very worn, unreadable marking on the bottom. This is a comical monkey in that he is holding a lighted pipe in one hand and a sake bottle in the other hand, and on the bottle in says "hino yo gin" which translates to "watch out for the open fire". The monkey measures about 5 3/4" high x 4 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep, and dates to the turn of the Century. Condition: The condition is very good with some chipping around the neck area. There is another Small chip on one ear, but there is no major damage, and he works perfectly. Free shipping within the USA.
