| An excellent tea ceremony 'Chukai' chaire or tea caddy, complete with its shifuku or silk storage bag, dating to the early 20th century or earlier. This cha-ire is of the Chukai low squat type with a generous lid. A rich chocolate brown glaze with flecks around the body. The large heavy lid is gold lined and exhibits a warm yellowing through age; this is clearly an old piece. The foot is unglazed with the base featuring the typical string-cut pattern, dark through years of use. Overall condition is excellent for age. Dimensions: 2" x 3 1/4". An excellent addition to any serious collection of teaware or for use by the tea practitioner. | ||
