Cavalier with a young lady in a wine cellar, ca. 1850. The canvas measures 19 1/2" x 27 1/2," and the frame is 25" x 33." There is some significant craquelure, a bump in the canvas above the lady's head and some paint loss due to a scratch in the top of the painting.
The painting is signed "Unger," and measures 16" x 23 1/2." It has been cleaned, repaired and re-lined, with some light cracking still visible on the canvas. The frame measures 23 1/2" x 30 3/4."

A painter and teacher who was born and lived in Little Rock, Arkansas, Benjamin Brantly was known for landscapes, murals, and portraits including paintings of Supreme Court justices that are at the Pulaski County Courthouse Museum of Fine Arts.

There is some light cracking in the paint and a light stain visible in the upper right-hand corner of the painting. The board measures 12" x 17 1/2," and the frame is 16" x 21 1/2."
Signed "H. Clements." There have been some well-done light repairs to the canvas, which measures 10" x 16." The frame is 14 1/4" x 20 1/4."
