Plutarch's Lives, Translated from the Original Greek; With Notes, Critical and Historical; and A New Life of Plutarch by J.D.D. Langhorne and W. Handsomely bound in full plum smooth calf with gilt-ruled covers and heavily gilt-decorated spines in six compartments with raised hubs and two maroon labels on each spine. Speckled fore-edges. Minor wear to extremities with minor rubs here and there but attractive overall. Interiors have some toning and foxing confined mostly to the endpapers in all six books. Previous owner's small ink stamp is on first free flyleaf in first two volumes and on the Half Title Page in the last four books. 6 5/8" tall.
