Hippolyte Petitjean: "A Farmhouse In A Hollow" Drawing
SOLD

This black chalk and pencil drawing is by the French artist Hippolyte Petitjean (1854-1929), and measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2." The condition is excellent, and there is a red estate stamp in the bottom left (Not in Lught). The artist was a student of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris where, in 1872, he travelled to the atelier of Cabenel. He painted landscapes, notably various views of Paris as well as mythological subjects. In 1887, he exhibited in Stockholm and around 1891, he showed at the Salon des Independants. He also showed at Brussels in 1893, 1898, at Berlin in 1898, Weimar in 1903 and Wiesbaden in 1921. Provenance: The artist's estate sale.
