Antique Japanese lacquer chest of a rectangular form with intricately lacquer scenes of a pagoda building in a landscape setting. The interior drawers have a floral and bird motif and the doors are of cockerels with chrysanthemums and the top of the chest is with ho-ho birds. Each of the drawers is lacquered throughout with gold lacquer on the interior and the sides and bottom are with black lacquer. It has some missing lacquer on the lower portion of the front doors. It dates to the early 19th century. Size: 34 ¾” high x 39 1/4” wide x 20 ½” deep (88.3 x 99.7 x 52.1 cm)

The Japanese finely carved dragon chair with the ends of the arms terminating in elaborately carved dragons with a pearl in their mouths, the back had intertwined dragon tails that are clutching a pearl, the cabriole legs with winged creatures and a peal in the center of the apron. It dates to the late Meiji Period (1880-1912). Size: 32 ½” high x 24 ½” wide x 18 ½” deep (seat 17 ½” high x 18” x 18”)

Japanese Art Nouveau carved rosewood curio cabinet, circa 1900 is with a stepped top, interior with half-shelves that are staggered and carved in scrolled pattern, the back panel has a carved bamboo design, two lower bottom drawers and ornate openwork apron are with writhing dragons, sinuous cabriole legs, dragon head scrolled feet, and dragon pulls. The finely carved reticulated carved wood chair is in the Art Nouveau style. It has high-relief carved dragons with inset bone eyes on the back and arms, the end of the arms are with dragons, each holding the “flaming pearl” in their mouths. The Art Nouveau finely detailed reticulated high backed chair has two monkeys in a nut laden tree holding hands, while each of the arms terminate with a monkey holding a cluster of nuts, the seat has a central medallion with a lotus and water motif, cabriole legs are carved with a scrolled stylized leaf motif. This beautifully carved Japanese Export desk has an elaborately carved top section with reticulated dragons and compartments on either side with a dragon motif and a lower drawers with a dragon door pulls and in the upper middle is three curved shelves, the top shelf and two mid shelves, on the side panels are carved irises, the desk top has a repeating border, the apron has a finely carved dragon with drawers on each side with dragon door pulls, the side panels have a carved carp and wave motif, it is supported on elaborately carved dragon cabriole legs. This desk is from the Art Nouveau period. Japan created these pieces for the Western export market. They discontinued making this type of furniture in 1925. This large chestnut wood tansu is of a rectangular form on wheels, with sliding front door panels that has decorative slats, that are also on the sides of the cabinet, the iron lock plate has its original key, in the interior are two shelves with two small drawers on the right-side with an iron lock plate and its original key. There is a decorative iron plate with a pawlownia leaf motif and an iron ring on each side of the bottom lower rail. This chest was used by merchants to store their ledgers.
