| This charming school children's name tag is from Meiji era. The tag is made from a small wood piece. One side of the tag says, 'Inugami-county The Eleventh district, Tsuji Shigeuchi (paeren's name), the first daughter Tami (?), Meiji 10 (1878)December.' The other side of the tag says, 'Shiga Prefectual School.' The design of the netsuke is assumed to be one of Seven Happy Gods, Hotei. The netsuke is made from hand-curved wood. The tag and netsuke is tied with an old cord and there is a "tag-cover" which is made from old indigo-dye cotton fabric.
