A good Japanese mixed metal (shibuichi) pipe, 19th century, inlaid with gold and silver alloys. A river scene with bamboo leaves , 3 ducks amongst bamboo on the bank of a stream. A moon is rising over the hills of the bank. Very fine detail. Signed on the reverse side. Very good condition. Surface may be intentional, or may need professional cleaning. Not sure. No damages. Featuring the smallest Meiji Japanese cloisonne enamel box I have ever come across with an unusual subject matter, grapes, leaves, and a small insect. The reverse with a 16 petaled chrysanthemum and leaf design found on imperial presentation pieces. Possible a presentation gift from the Meiji emperor. The interior is lined with silk.
