Featuring a very rare antique silver wax seal in the form of a mysterious shrouded figure. The tablet for the seal has not been carved. It unscrews from the figure in order to engrave it. The figure is a great example of art from the Symbolism Movement of art, originating in France and Belgium in the late 19th century, awakening man's interest in the religious and spiritual world. A Chinese porcelain blue and white snuff bottle signed with the Chien Lung mark, but probably dating to the mid 19th century. Decorated with scenes of high ranking official under canopy with attendants and military. Tells a story since there is a cloud like design coming from the leader's head to the attendant before him(like a cartoon drawing when the words come from the head of a person). Featuring a dramatic antique Japanese carved wood netsuke of gamma sennin, one hand to his head, his sleeve blowing in the wind, and the other hand holding a frog on his leg. Dating to the 18th century. Wonderful expression/flowing lines. Dimensions, 1.5" high x 1 1/4" wide x 7/8" deep. Condition, very good to excellent. Fine hand painted Pitcher with sprays of flowers including nasturtiums, and various other flowers in shades of lavender to pink, and blue all on a cream colored back ground.
