Extraordinary large 12" Japanese cloisonne plate or charger. The wonderful fan motif with birds and flowers is unusually well designed and most desirable in Japanese art. This motif is not easily found on Japanese cloisonne and fairly unique in such fine quality. The background has a fine scroll and mon-like motif. Featuring a wonderful Japanese porcelain plate made by Fukagawa in the late 19th century. The scalloped 6 1/4" plate with the 24 petaled kikumon design is fairly rare. At least six different patterns alternate in blue, orange, white and much gold. 2 blue rims surround the foot rim on the underside and the Fukagawas signature mark, a blue underglaze Mt. Featuring a dramatic and wonderful Japanese studio Hirado porcelain plate with a mythological 4 footed beast with a dragon face, possibly an unusual form of a kirin, and a long coiled dragon, both facing each other and ready to attack. Dating to the last half of the 19th century. Measures 9 3/4" in diameter. Very good condition with no chips, cracks, restorations. There is some surface wear with light scratches. 19th century Chinese porcelain snuff bottle with biscuit type finish with 18 wise men depicted, hand painted. Chien Lung mark on base. Measures 3 1/4" high, 2 1/4" wide and about 1 1/2" deep. The bottle is in excellent condition. The rose quartz top and bone spoon are a replacement. The rose quartz stopper compliments the colors of the bottle and they look very nice together.
