Featuring a fine elephant ivory Chinese carving of a Chinese beauty or goddess. Very peaceful expression on face. Finely carved details in facial features, hair(flowers and hair pin in hair), hands, flowing robe folds, sashes(with open work) etc. Measures 6.25" high without stand, x 1.5" wide x approx. 1" deep. With stand, measures another 3/4" tall. Statue is glued to stand. Could be soaked off if desired, but gives stability and does not harm carving. Excellent condition, but there may be a piece missing on the end of the staff she is holding in her left hand. Also, there is a small place near her right shoulder that may have been attached to something at one time(see last photo). Not really noticeable and does not detract from the overall beauty of this piece and displays very well. Otherwise, all in excellent condition. Dates to the late 19th century, but could be a bit older. Very nice patina from age. Fresh from a fine estate/ivory collection where it has been well cared for and appreciated for many years. Selling on consignment on behalf of client. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of having been received, and in original packing material. Sales tax charged if sold in New York state unless valid sales tax number and resale form provided.
