Featuring a museum quality, very fine, elegant and rare antique sterling and gold mesh evening handbag purse. Made by the Whiting and Davis Co. in the first quarter of the 20th century. This purse has many unique attributes since it combines an art deco design in the frame handle, clasp, and the gold and sterling striped design in the mesh. The mesh is the finest, gossamer quality as is the very fine fringe at the bottom edge. The sapphire clasp is lovely and snaps shut tightly. The original owners intitial are engraved on the outside, and the entire name is on the inside. Also, stamped "Whiting and Davis & Co. Mesh Bags,Patd" and "Sterling & 1 10 14k".
