Featuring a rare, English, early to mid 19th century, antique sterling silver and coral baby rattle and whistle. Lovely repousse work all over the surface. There are 5 bells(the 6th one is missing), a ring for hanging, and a fine coral piece for teething and good luck. The whistle does not work(it could probably be fairly easy to adjust to work) and the mouth piece, just under it,(perhaps the baby teethed in the wrong place!), is slightly indented on both sides(see photo). The hallmarks are hard to make out, but there is a faint outline of a head, lion and another mark that may be the makers mark or the part of England where it was made, and an O for the year it was made. See photos. Measures 4" long. Other than these issues mentioned, it is in good to very good condition, which is pretty amazing considering the age and rarity of an item such as this. Dates to the early 19th century. Return privilege providing it is returned in sent condition, within 3 days of receipt, and the way it was packed/sent. Sales tax charged if sold in NY state, unless valid resale tax number and NY sales tax form provided.
