Featuring a rare Austrian sterling silver snuff or curio cabinet box with an intricately engraved scene on cover and on the reverse, beautiful engraved scroll designs. On the cover is engraved under the castle scene "Das Schlofs Weilburg Bey Baden in Oesth". I believe the translation for this in English is Castle Weilburg near Vienna Austria", but not sure since I do not speak German. The engraving is superb with a courting couple standing in the foreground, and the castle/structures and landscape setting in the background. Fully hallmarked with Austrian date mark, hard to make out, may be 1859 or 1849. A makers mark also, which I can't make out. Dimensions: 3 1/8" long x 2" deep with clasp x 1/2" high. Excellent condition with normal wear due to age. Minor dent on reverse and in scene background(see photos). Overall, I would say this box is in excellent antique condition. Postage/insurance extra. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of receipt and original packing if possible. Sales tax collected if sold in New York state unless valid tax number and resale form provided.
