Featuring a superb Japanese antique gold lacquer and mother of pearl hairpin, Kogai, and comb, Kushi, set,Kanzashi. Very tiny, so delicate, inlaid mother of pearl flowers, leaves,butterfly, chrysanthemums and other plant life and various techniques of Japanese lacquer on both sides of comb. Even the thin top part of the comb is decorated. Also, very tiny lacquer work on the teeth on one side. The hair pin is also beautifully decorated with inlaid mother of pearl on all four sides, and ends, 10 sides all together. Signed on both hair pin and comb. Dimensions: comb, 3 7/16" long x 1 5/16" high; hair pin,5 9/16" long x 7/16" wide at end. Excellent condition. No missing/replaced mother of pearl! There is minimal wear due to age, but it has been very well cared for in general. Dates to the late 19th century. Please feel free to ask for more photos.
