Featuring a fine Japanese cloisonne enamel match box cover holder attributed to Takahara. Unusual elaborate overlapping geometric shaped reserve designs of stylized mums and other interesting designs including stylized flowers. Kyoto jippo is the term to describe this type of brass wire work covering an entire surface. The piece is heavy for what it is, weighing 83.1 grams. Dimensions:2.5" long x 1.5" deep x 7/8" high. Near mint condition, with some minor no harm firing flaws in a few small spots along edge where the enamel meets the brass metal sides. Also, slight bend in brass at end on one side of one end(see photo). Napkin rings, card cases and buckles are more common in this quality but a match box cover as this is more unusual/rare. Circa 1900. Satisfaction guaranteed or money back providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of having been received. Postage/insurance extra. Sales tax charged if sold in NY state unless valid sales tax number and signed form provided.
