A pair of heavy Japanese Meiji cloisonne vases with birds on rich turquoise background and geometric borders on brass. The two types of birds seem to be connecting to each other. Amongst white, pink and red camillia flowers and leaves, sparrows are flying towards each other. Also, another bird, more tropical, is flying towards another with head turned towards him/her. The like birds seem to be connected to their mate. Dating to 1880. 7 1/16" tall x 4 1/4" wide at widest point. Excellent condition. No damages or restorations on exterior. There is a small area on the interior of the neck of each vase with a minor crack(see photo).
