| Very fine and unusual silver wire Japanese box, circa 1880 with mythological animals,phoenix,lion, flying dragon. Also, butterflies, scrolls,and trailing vines and flowers, all on a medium blue background. Exceptionally fine work not often found with this unusual subject matter.The underside and interior are metal. The box measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" high. It is basically in very good condition but there are a few no harm firing lines on the corners (see photo) that and can barely be seen. There are no repairs and no enamel is missing.
