French Faience Luneville-St. Clement Large Cup/Saucer
Oversized French faience Luneville-St. Clement coffee cup and saucer with charming French architectural scenes and sponged trees all hand painted. Decoration on plate and cup rims with typical blue diamond boarders. Signed "France" on undersides of both pieces. This set was made by the St. Clement company from that area of France and is not commonly found, especially in such pristine condition. Plate measures over 7" in diameter and the cup measures 4" in diameter and over 2 3/4" high. It would be fun to use this as a little vase or centerpiece with flowers, or for nuts or candy, or just as a decorative art object on a what-not shelf. No chips, cracks, restorations or damages whatsoever. In her book, "French Faience", Millicent Mali devotes a chapter to the history of this ware and is pictured and described. She states that the diamond shaped blue boarder is characteristic and typical of this ware. This set dates to the early 20th century. Satisfaction guaranteed or money back. 3 day return privilege, providing item returned in sent condition. Postage/insurance extra. New York buyer pays their local county sales tax on item and postage unless valid tax number provided with resale certificate.
