Featuring a superb Japanese Meiji sterling silver and cloisonne enamel small tray or plate with an ornate reticulated border of stylized moths or butterflies, scrolls and half petaled flowers with gold centers. The beautiful cloisonne butterfly, with many intricate gold wires and colors, hovers over profuse gold wire cloisonne peonies of thick, raised(moriage), shaded transparent and opaque enamels in rich colors of lavender, peach, white to pink, and white to blue. All enamel done with gold wires, including the peonies and their stamens and the shaded green and brown leaves with veins. Unsigned, but surely the work of a master artist.
