A lovely Meiji Japanese cloisonne vase with chrysanthemums tied on bamboo pole with pink ribbon. A butterfly on reverse side. All on a lovely muted shade of blue gray. The beautiful white spider mums are touched with green. Dates circa 1890. This piece is done in the style of one of the greatest makers of Japanese cloisonne, Namikawa Sosuke. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, damages or repairs. Very minor pitting found on virtually every piece of Japanese enamel. The truest color of the background is the photo with the butterfly.Measures 5" high with a diameter of approximately 2 1/2". Fairly heavy for size.
