Beautiful Japanese Satsuma Plate Signed Kinkozan 8 1/2"
Sold, thank you!

Featuring a lovely Satsuma plate with an exquisite subtle scene of a pair of male and female ducks swimming amongst grasses and pale pink flowers with gold centers. The artist that painted this scene used great skill in all details, shading and blending of colors, and with the suggestion of haze to the left side as it fades into shadow foliage in the distance. Also unique is the painting of the duck's feet under the water, a rare motif in Satsuma, occasionally found in cloisonne. There are raised enamels on the ducks, flowers, and grasses. Fine powder-like gold work runs through the plate to suggest the haze of the hot summer day. On the left side(see photo) is a white area. I do not know if that is intentional on the part of the artist, or a skip in the paint. It is not wear. The cobalt border is decorated with fine gold and raised enamel designs. I have tried to photograph the hairline crack on the front(that goes through to the back) and back. It is very hard to see and is not objectionable for the adjusted price of this brilliant example of Kinkozan's work. No other chips, damages, or restorations. The cobalt blue carries over to the reverse side, and the Kinkozan signature is in red and gold. The plate measures 8 1/2" in diameter and dates circa 1910. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of having receive item and in original packaging. Postage/insurance extra. Sales tax collected if sold in NY state, unless valid tax number and form provided.
