Antique Silver Sculpture Wax Seal Symbolisim Movement
Featuring a very rare antique silver wax seal in the form of a mysterious shrouded figure. The tablet for the seal has not been carved. It unscrews from the figure in order to engrave it. The figure is a great example of art from the Symbolism Movement of art, originating in France and Belgium in the late 19th century, awakening man's interest in the religious and spiritual world. The figure suggests the mystery surrounding the Madona. The veil covering her face, cascading downward, represents sadness and tears. From the estate of a sophisticated collector. Measures 3 1/2/" tall and weighs 6 ounces on a postage scale. The figure is made of solid silver but there are no markings. Return privilege providing item returned within 3 days of receipt, in sent condition. Postage/insurance extra. Sales tax collected if sold in New York state unless valid sales tax number/form provided.
