Sentimental jewelry was quite popular in the Victorian era when overt expression of emotions was highly checked. Often these items contained hearts and flowers, frequently together. Gifts of this kind were one way to express one's sentiment to a loved one, be it friend or family. These tiny heart earrings in rose gold are just one example. Today these would make the same impression; one of love and affection for the recipient.

A charming 10kt gold and enamel love knot pin with chassed gold and blue and white enamel forget-me-not flowers. The Victorians used the language of flowers to send sentimental messages. In this case, forget-me-nots for the obviously adored recipient to remember the one who gave it to her. Again, the Victorians also ensured that the jewelry could be worn in more than one way and this pin has a bale so the wearer can put in on a neck chain or a ribbon. It measures 15/16" in diameter and weighs 6.5 grams. The condition is excellent with just a bit of gold tarnish that can be easily cleaned. Circa 1895
