Size: 5.5 x 3.75 inches.
Condition: Excellent.
This print is tipped to a greeting card from Naotake Sato (1882-1971), who served as Foreign Minister of Japan as well as Ambassador to the USSR. Sato wanted to avert war with Russia as the end of World War II approached, but he was summoned to the Kremlin in 1945, where he received the crucial declaration of war against Imperial Japan. Provenance: This post-war woodblock print greeting card is addressed to Justin Williams, who was General Douglas MacArthur's chief liaison to the Japanese government.
