French Empire Ormolu & Bronze Cupid Candlesticks
A Fine and Exceptional Pair of Empire gilt bronze or ormolu and patinated figural candlesticks. French, circa: 1810. Measuring: 12" high.

A scarce pair of candlesticks exhibiting the figure cupid or cherubs. Each figure is cast separately and is the mirror image of the other. Each stands upon one foot resting on a sphere with one hand held upward supporting a single candle holder. The second hand is holding a piece of fruit probably an apple or pear. This form and design is seen in candelabra but is rare found in candlesticks.

Each candlestick is in superb original Museum quality condition. Lost wax method was used to create the very fine detail and high quality cast Pieces of which there are 22 different separately cast bronze sections that were created and assembled to exhibit this stunning pair.

Hand chased and mercury gilded. The gilding is stunning exhibiting a deep matte yellow gold finish while highlights and raised areas of detail and are burnished to a brilliant finish.

Exceptional design and Museum quality.
