French Empire Bronze Ormolu Figure Of A Classical Male
A Fine French Empire Ormolu or gilded bronze figure of a Classical Male playing a flute. French Empire, circa: 1810. Measuring: 14.5" high. Weight: 10 pounds.

The bronze statue depicts a Classically dressed male figure playing a flute. Adorned in a Roman draped garment and ankle laced sandals. Hair displays a wreath of classical leaves. Raised upon a stepped plinth of Rouge and Green marble mounted with ormolu bead details.

Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.
