| Pair of early 20th Century Hand-Colored Engravings, each signed, lower right, "F. Bott" (?), "J. Both" (?). Left engraving is a bridge and building which has the appearance of an early textile mill, with a castle-type building the the distance; inland lake in the foreground. Engraving on right is ships at shore, with passengers possibly disembarking, along with a tall basket of cotton or wool, perhaps destined for the mill. We cannot guarantee our interpretation of the scenes is correct, but it would explain them being framed as a pair. The setting appears to be of late 18th, possibly early 19th century. Images measure about 5" x 3.50", framed in textured gilt dappled with black, to about 7.50" x 6.25". Both paintings are attractively backed in old wallpaper, and the remains of a label reading "Jacoby's." Both in excellent condition, with perhaps slight darkening to the paper, and normal wear to the frames. $16 US Shipping. | |||||||||||||||
