An exquisite 800 Silver Pedestal and Cut Crystal Bowl by J. D. Schleissner & Sohne, the premiere 19th Century silver manufacturers of Hanau, Germany. The silver base is simple elegance in a repousse design of scrolls and acanthus leaves, topped by a graceful lobed, 6-petal, floral shaped crystal bowl which has been expertly hand cut and engraved with even more ornate flowers, urns, leaves and vines. The bowl is of very fine quality and has the look of Baccarat; it is, however, unsigned. The silver base is impressed with the Schleissner marks including their sickle mark, "800", "Germany," and the mark of New York Silver Importers, Buchholz & Zelt. We also find a "C" within a crest, the impressed number "63," and the hand engraved number set of "B53513." Bowl measures about 8.25" x 4.75", together with the attached pedestal is 4" tall. Condition is excellent with the exception of one tiny flake at the uppermost point of one lobe, pictured. c. 1890-1914. $20 US Shipping.
