Note: Almost all of the GILT which completely outlines all raised, colored enameling is intact. Our photos do not adequately show the elegance and luminosity of the extensive use of gilt on these vases; so Please try to imagine the thin outline completely surrounding each piece of decoration on these vases. There are also three vertical stripes separating each of the three surrounding sections of decoration, which are in textured gilt; the partial gilt losses pertain primarily to these stripes, the rims and necks, and the foot of each vase. Description: Pair of 19th Century, European, probably French or Bohemian, BALUSTER VASES, of cased glass, elaborately decorated in scrolls and flowers of RAISED ENAMEL around the entire outside of the bodies, and around the foot of each. Overall gilt outlining, and gilt vertical "stripes" separating three sections of decoration on each vase. Aqua ground appears to be applied color. The hand-written number "3." is on the base of each vase. We find no other marks. Each measures about 8-1/2" tall, 2-1/2" rim diameter, 3-1/4" foot diameter, 4-3/4" shoulder diameter. $27 US Shipping. |
