Outstanding PAIR of FRENCH BRONZE DORE (gilt bronze) CANDLE HOLDERS on triple pedestals of natural MARBLE; both have four elaborately cuffed Paw Feet; long-necked, bulbous torso with attached berry and leaf decoration to front and back, and acanthus leaf "handles" on the sides; repousse leaf and flower decoration on bobeches and candle cups. SIZE: About 16-1/4" tall, 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" at the feet, 3-1/2" x 4" uppermost plateau. CONDITION: Very good, with slight losses and wear to the gilt, and one slightly bent candle cup, pictured (easily repairable if desired), minor abrasions to the marble including small impact lower level left corner of right holder, and 1/4" square flake center lower front of left holder. PROVENANCE: Estate of a woman who was married to an Italian Prince, and who acquired many fine items. $85 US Shipping. |
