Antique Frame has wear from use and age, and a number of breaks and losses. The overall finish has darkened. The frame is asolutely beautiful as is, and certainly could be used this way. We do not attempt to list the numerous breaks and losses, but suggest that you study it comparing one side against the other to see some of the losses. The most major issue is that the upper right half of the right side decoration is cracked and loose, and needs to be reglued and secured. As we said, though, it is possible to use the frame as is, in its damaged state as a lovely antique item. The carved wood frame is unmarked, but is likely from France or Italy; the main decoration is that of a fleur de lis at the center top, with scrolling acanthus leaves around the sides and base; the central frame is in a stylized beading and measures 6" x 4-1/4" at the rabbet. The outside, carved frame measures about 14" x 9-1/2". Being sold absolutely AS IS. 19th century or older. $16 US Shipping. |
