18th C. Lowestoft Tea Caddy Hand Painted Puce

CONDITION: Several firing flaws throughout, gilt losses, no lid, considerable wear to the base.

Fine workmanship in the hand-painting in monotone puce, of the floral and leaf pattern, on all four sides, shoulders, and around the rim. Touches of gilt dileneate flower stamen with some gilt "dots" around the rim.

Decoration style and shape consistent with the English maker, Lowestoft.

Unable to detect any marks; likely Lowestoft; alternative suggestion of Chinese Export, in the Lowestoft style.

Measures about 4-1/2" tall, 3" wide, 1-1/2" deep.

From the Personal Collection of noted Antiques Appraiser, Juanita Brown.
