CONDITION: bends at foot rim; slightly irregular opening rim shape; bends at lid inner rim, outer rim, tiny surface dents on lid, extensive denting to lid finial.
DESCRIPTION: Late 19th Century, DIVIDED SUGAR BOWL with LID, Russian Hallmarks (Initials) at bowl rim and on lid, Cyrillic "F.G" perhaps for Fedor Gorbunov, Moscow Silversmith. No other marks appear, so we offer only our suggestion of maker, but it could represent some other workmaster.
Oval Bowl sits atop pedestal base with wide, flat foot, two "S" shaped Handles (one on either side), raised oval lid with roundish finial surrounded by elongated repousse and chased leaves; body of bowl is also repousse and chased in a coordinated, although different pattern.
METALS: Bowl and lid have tested positive for gold (up to 22K) over Sterling; finial, base and handles have not been tested.
Total weight of the bowl and lid is 120.8 grams.
