19th C Daum Nancy Acid Cut Enameled Ormolu Vase Signed
A rare and outstanding small ACID-CUT VASE with ORMOLU, GILT, and RAISED ENAMEL, by DAUM NANCY, and so-signed in gilt on the base, along with the Cross of Lorraine.

The translucent ground of the vase is attractively textured while the simple acid-cut floral patterns are smooth and transparent. Each floral piece has a few raised, white enamel "nodes" or berries. Gilt decorates the pattern, as well as feather-gilt around the rim; the same floral pattern is used in the attached ormolu which encircles the rim and cascades in the front.

It measures about 4-3/4" tall, 2-3/8" rim diameter.

CONDITION: 1/4" area of chipping to rim (easily repaired by a professional), a 1/4" diameter flake (see photo with opposing arrows) to base edge, plus several very small chips/flakes to base edge (these show only when the vase is turned over); gilt losses.

Circa late 19th Century, France.

$18 US Shipping.
