CONDITION: URN NO. 1, excellent undamaged condition, with slight gilt losses primarily to rim, overall crazing, naturally darkened area at underside base.
FREE VASE, two repairs -- reattached front foot, right facing handle repaired in 3 locations (looking top-to-bottom, 1 near upper attachment, 1 at center, 1 near the two horizontal raised flutes), minor gilt losses, overall crazing. The repairs are very well done and impressive, only the foot repair is incomplete; it needs the addition of matching red enamel to cover the reattachment repair.
Decorative Urn / Vase by COALPORT, ENGLAND, with underglaze green mark of 1891-1920. Ornate gilt handles, hand-painted front cartouche of "Bothwell Castle," Scotland, and so-stated in gilt on the base; hand-painted verso cartouche of floral bouquet; both cartouches surrounded by extensive raised, flat, and beaded gilt decoration; gilt also decorates the base, and neck; the neck of the inside opening is stipple-gilt.
Free Urn / Vase is identical to the other, with the front cartouche being the image of "Old Inverlochy" Castle, Scotland, and so-stated on the base in gilt.
DIMENSIONS: Urn / Vase No. 1 is about 8-1/2" tall, 5-1/2" handle-to-handle, 1-7/8" rim diameter, 2-1/2" square base. Free Urn / Vase is about the same measurement.
NOTE: The Free Urn / Vase, is exactly that, and is offered with no guarantees or warranties whatsoever beyond its enclosure within the package of the winner of Urn / Vase No. 1; the FREE URN IS TRULY A GIFT, and will be packaged as carefully as the other, although insurance will cover only Urn / Vase No. 1.
