Russian Enameled Porcelain Lamp Dore Lions 19th C

Outstanding 19th Century European Lamp which was likely converted from a kerosene lamp or an elegant samovar; exquisite enameling, and patterned gilding throughout; very likely Russian in origin, but we cannot guarantee.

We believe this is gold-plating over white metal, although the metal in some areas seems to be bronze. Four lion masks corresponding with each corner of the base; four hanging decorative triangles, four large and stylized paw feet atop scrolling acanthus leaves.

15" (38.10 cm) to top of ceramic, 41.50" to top of finial, 11" (27.94 cm) square base -- ceramic atop wood, with 4 metal ball feet.

Some restoration to base (see photos showing crack all the way across center, and small cracks on side of base); minor wear to gilt; custom plaster-like decoration around the container opening has much of the perimeter decoration missing, likely a necessary happening when the lamp has been taken apart in the past; this is restorable, or replaceable if desired; finally, there is overall, age-confirming crazing.

Local pick up, or shipping to be arranged by buyer at buyer's expense. We are happy to assist buyer in finding a shipper.
