Having ovoid form the vase sits on a flat circular base with transitions from dark brown to dark red to warm yellow. The two handles are nature based with slightly thorny high relief all covered in elegant subdued gold. The neck is an exceedingly successful pierced design holding open the labial rim keeping the same color combination as the base. 12" high.

The highlight of the vase is of course the radiant and realistically painted poppies which foil beautifully with the green stems and leaves. Painting is in the round with equal quality all over. The artist F. Jounge signed the vase on the outer visible portion speaking to the superb quality of the workmanship.

Bottom is marked Habsburg with crown insignia, "Hand painted", 3 hand painted numbers and an impressed number relating to model numbers. We date this vase from c. 1900 - 20 although the absence of country of origin could suggest an earlier date.

Condition is superb. There are no cracks or breakage of any kind - no fleas which we have uncovered.

The total integration of the design with the warm colors enveloping the brilliant poppies makes this vase stand out with exceptional excellence.
