A drawing assumed to be a study in preparation for a painting done in chalk on buff paper features an Arab at a well. The two New York art galleries handling this drawing previously attributed it to Alexandre Decamps which documentation is on the rear of the framing. However, we cannot affirm the authorship so are selling as a 19th C. study. Dimensions of art 11 3/8" x 8 3/8". Framed in black with blue matting.
Visible portions of paper are excellent. We will not unframe to inspect further. Additional photos available upon request. Our photography has not captured the true colors correctly as the paper is quite clean and of buff color. |
