French Aesthetic Enameled Lamp w. by Jules Vieillard
AESTHETIC ENAMELED LAMP WITH BRONZE BASE, WITH BRONZE BASE. MAKER: JULES VIEILLARD. BRONZE BASE. The enameling is Persian Iznik style. A little over 8.5 inches in height and 4.25 inches in diam. This vase is handsomely enameled in the Persian or Iznik style. The varying bands of design include many foliate designs in rich colors including turquoise blue, cobalt blue, green, rust red and white. If you look carefully, you will find the playful black and white faces of men with beards, a French touch! Probably made in the 1870s-1880s. There is a two inch hairline, barely visible, which blends in with the design. The vase has been converted to a lamp base, with a small opening in the base of the cylinder for wiring. The bronze base has a handsome zig zag design, probably made in France. The bronze base looks better in reality than the photo image. It has a brass fitting on the top, a container which probably held a kerosene container. It is in very good condition. It is fully marked underneath and is offered with no reserve.
