AESTHETIC PLATTER, INDIAN EMPRESS, DESIGNED BY BRUCE TALBERT WITH ALLOVER DESIGN OF BIRDS IN TREES
Brown-Westhead-Moore & Company introduced the INDIAN EMPRESS pattern in 1875. Bruce Talbert was an architect and designer, best known for his furniture and textiles. He was the designer of this wonderful complex design. Look carefully to see the number of birds hiding in the branches! The rich cobalt blue design is on a white background. Imagine this design as a Japanese textile, reminiscenct of William Morris' designs.
The back is marked with both impressed and printed diamond registration, as well as the maker's mark and pattern name. The incised English Registry Mark is dated January 23, 1875 and the stamped English Registry Mark is dated April 28, 1877. The platter is 15” in length. It is in excellent condition. $225.00
