Rare Aesthetic Japanesque Middletown Silver Plate 3p
American Aesthetic Middletown Silver Plate Co. 3 piece Lemonade Set,c.1870s-1880s This is a very rare design. It has strong Japanese influences, with rolling waves and swimming fish. It may be a lemonade set or a water set. The Middletown company had a shorter life span than some of the major companies of that time, and the design is quite unique. The set is in very good antique condition, original silver plate, and original gold plate. The MIddletown Plate Co of Connecticut was started in 1864 and taken over in 1899 by International Silver Co. The markings on the bottom include MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. as well as QUADRUPLE PLATE plus the trademark scale balance. There is very minor plate loss on the tray, and some minor dents on the bottom of the pitcher. The pitcher height is.8(5/8)in. From handle to spout it is 6(3/8) in. The tray is 12 in. long and .8(7/8) in. in width. The bowl is 4(3/8) in. in diameter.11044.nes.
