Burgess & Leigh, Hill Pottery, Large Transferware Platter, 18” x 13” The RUSTIC pattern was first introduced by Burgess & Leigh at the Hill Pottery in 1886. The RUSTIC pattern reflects the English countryside with several planes of perspective which draw the viewer’s eye. The brown transfer design is executed on a cream colored body. It is rare to find this pattern in this huge size. The platter is 18" x 13" and in excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips, repairs or other damage to the platter, other than some glaze crazing and a 1/8", very shallow chip to the back of the left edge of the platter. Marks on the base of the platter include the beehive mark, plus an impressed mark and the registration number of the pattern of 1886.
