| DOULTON AESTHETIC TRANSFERWARE PLATTER WITH FLYING CRANES AND WATER LILIES The large Aesthetic Transferware Platter, with Flying Cranes and Water Lilies, is 18” x 16” and has been hand enameled over a gray green clay. The glazed clay is almost celadon in color. It is very Oriental in its design and with the exotic motifs, scattered asymmetrically over the platter, very much in the Japanesque style. The color is a blue gray-green rather than a yellow-green, which made it hard to capture the celadon-like color in the photographs. First produced in the late 19th Century, but this platter may have been made in the early 20th Century, using the older design (which I think was named AUDLEY) It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. Please note that the second photograph is closest to the true color. | ||
