Superb Magenta ETRUSCAN VASES Transferware Pitcher, 13” Tall. c.1870 This magnificent Pitcher in the ETRUSCAN VASES pattern has a superb magenta / fuchsia background. The drawing for the ETRUSCAN VASES is high quality, and includes several vases and pitchers in different shapes and sizes. The transferware print is black. The borders of the vase include a series of foliate border designs, tinted in pale orange luster. The central design depicts Classical Vases resting on a shelf featuring foliate designs. The central design is also decorated with the pale orange luster finish. The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, crazing or hairlines, with just very minor surface scratches. The 13" tall Etruscan Vases pitcher was made by James Edwards & Son, who worked out of the Dalehall Pottery Works at the same time as the Gildea company was using the pottery, so their versions of Etruscan Vases are similar, although the pattern for this pitcher is named ANTIQUE. The condition is near excellent, with a few minor scratches to the finish. (Photo flash makes some spots look white, but that is not loss of glaze color.) It is such a good looking pitcher!
