| RARE TALL AESTHETIC DERBY SILVERPLATE CENTERPIECE With Hammer Surface, Acorns and Leaves, with Tall Bowl Supports Fashioned as Branches. ........ Here is a very unusual centerpiece, designed for fruit or nuts or even flowers, which can make a spectacular centerpiece on your table. The silverplate is in excellent condition. The Hartford Silverplate Company of Connecticut produced many very interesting silverplate designs. The bowl is hammered, as is the square pedestal base. The diameter of the bowl opening is approx. 8” but the bowl is approx. 10” wide at its widest. The height from top to bottom is 10 inches. The legs supporting the bowl are cast as small branches. Acorns were a typical motif of the 1890s, and the popular Adirondack style of the time an decorate the square base. The raised and pierced feet were typical of the 1880s style. This centerpiece embraces both the American Aesthetic Movement as well as the Adirondack style. The condition of the silverplate is excellent. It has the original finish with no wear of the plating. | ||
