AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BLUE AND WHITE PLATE BY WEDGWOOD, MARIGOLD Pattern, c. 1870s. This Aesthetic Movement design of the 1890s has a medium but bright blue transfer on white. Wedgwood first introduced the MARIGOLD design in 1878. The pattern features very stylized representations of marigolds that cover both the interior of the plate, as well as the repeating border design in addition to the Eastern or Islamic arches. It’s a beautiful and bold design! The plate is 10” in diameter. The condition of the plate is excellent! Markings include an impressed WEDGWOOD mark on the bottom. PLEASE NOTE that a smaller plate with identical coloring, 8.75 inches in diameter, is also available, priced at $75.00.
