AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BLACK WHITE AND RED MARIGOLD PLATE BY WEDGWOOD c.1870s.
This Aesthetic Movement design of the 1890s has a black transfer on white clay with hand painted deep red highlights. Wedgwood first introduced the MARIGOLD design in 1878. The pattern features very stylized representations of marigolds that cover both the interior of the plate, as well as the repeating border design in addition to the Eastern or Islamic arches. It’s a beautiful and bold design! The dinner plate is 10.25” in diameter. There are three dinner plates available. Each is being sold separately. The condition is excellent! Markings include an impressed WEDGWOOD mark on the bottom.
